Present activites of Swami Vivekananda Vani Prachar Samity
- Nitya Puja: Nitya Puja (Daily Worship) of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Maa Sarada & Swami Vivekananda is performed at 9.00 am in Mandir of the Samity.
- Birthday Tithi Puja: Celebrates Birthday Tithi Puja of Sri Marakrishna, Sri Ma Sarada and Swami Vivekananda every year.
Education: Samity conducts non-formal education programs in 18 education centres – 3 in Durgapur Steel Township, 15 in nearby tribal rural areas. Pre-primary, primary, coaching and adult education programs are conducted here. All educational materials like school bag, books, copies, pencil etc. are provided to all students. Apart from this tiffin, school dresses are also given to them. Along with basic learning program, cultural, drawing, computer and other value added programs are also conducted throughout the academic year. 1526 students were covered in this scheme in year of 2021 – 202
- Discourses: Spiritual discourses are conducted by the Monks of Ramakrishna Order in the Samity’s premises and Vivekananda hall, Shilpangan.
- Annual Function: Celebrates Annual Function Sri Marakrishna, Sri Ma Sarada and Swami Vivekananda every year.
Medical & Health Care: Samity provides various medical & health care programs as mentioned below for under-privileged and backward classes of the society.
• A charitable homeopathy dispensary.
• A Medical & health unit for people living below poverty level) where 30 doctors are giving their valuable services. All major sections like General, Pediatric, Gynecology, Dental, ENT are available here. Full-fledged pathological laboratory, Physiotherapy laboratory, X-ray & ECG facilities are available for all patients. Total 26,506 persons got medical treatment here in 2021-22.
• Conducts Medical camps at rural tribal villages – Dhowa Danga, Dasir Bandh, Mohantobagan, Baganpara, Kajora Leprosy Colony, Mana Basti, Naya Bazar, Coal Dipo. In 2021-22, 96 medical camps were conducted and 6470 Patients were covered.
- Vocational Training Programme: Samity provides various vocational training programs for unemployed youth in & around of Durgapur sub-division. The vocational training courses affiliated to BSS, NSDC & STVT are conducted at Samity’s In-house Vocational Training Institute situated at Durgapur Steel Township and at rural areas like Gopalmath, Gopinathpur, Moldanga, Gopalpur, Akandara, Mohontobagan, Fuljhore UporPara & Durgapur Women’s College. The brief of Vocational training courses conducted in 2021-22 is given below:
- • 4 nos. skill developments training courses- Computer Hardware, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Electric Technician, Account Executive.
- • 5 nos. voc. Training courses for women- Garment Design & Dress Making, Hair & Skin Care (6 months) & Advance Beautician, General Duty Assistant, Soft Toy Making.
- • 4 nos. Health-care related courses– DMLT, DP&AT, ECG Technician and GDA.
Samity received affiliation for 9 nos. skill developmental voc. training courses from NSDC, received affiliation for 3 Nos. courses from BSS & received affiliation for 1 nos. STVT. Total No. of students 600 Nos.
Vivekananda Service Centre (VSC): To uplift the economic condition of very poor families, two Self-Help-Groups consisting mothers of our students and some girl ex-students have been formed. A service centre was established where Cloth Cotton Duster, Jute Bags, Soap Bar, Industrial hand gloves are made. 14 beneficiaries work here and maintain their families from earning through this centre. Here 23.50 ton of Soap Bar, 35,000 nos. Cloth Cotton Duster, 20,000 nos. of jute bag, 20,000 nos. Leather hand gloves were made in 2021 – 2022. All products were supplied to DSP.
Project- Seri culture and Reeling & Spinning of Silk Yarn:
Annapurna Project: It is a women’s empowerment Self Helf Group. In this group 6 needy women cook and serve daily food as Mid Day Meal to 260 students of Sail Kanya Siksha Niketan, a school of DSP Mahila Samaj.
- Environmental Project: Removal of plastic wastes from Steel Township: Today environmental protection & control of pollution is a burning issue. Plastic wastes are among the second category. We are working for last 38 years in & around of Durgapur Steel Township and found that plastic waste is big nuisance in our beautiful township. It is not only threatening our environment but also damaging aesthetic view of it apart from problem to drainage and sewerage system of the township. Samity is conducting this project since 2007.
A team called “VIVEK BAHINI” consisting 17 plastic pickers, 1 van puller and 2 supervisors is executing this Project.

Goat rearing at individual level – Goats was provided to 70 nos. tribal women (Age more than 50 yrs) who cannot go outside the village regularly to earn their livelihood.
Mushroom Cultivation: Beneficiary- 30 Nos. tribal women are involved in this project. Mushroom is sold in local markets.
Soft Toy making: Beneficiary-12 Nos. unemployed girls are involved in the training-cum-production center. The unit has been tied-up with a Kolkata based manufacturing firm for marketing the products.
Hair & Skin Care: Beneficiary-14 Nos. Self employment and job at local beauty parlor.
Self Employed Tailor – Total Beneficiary-12 Nos. Self-employment and job at local shop.
General Duty Assistant: Total Beneficiary – 24 Nos. On Job training at IQ City Hospital.
• Construction of 75 nos Low Cost Sanitation (LCS) Units at the Kantaberia Ruidaspara, Akandara Adibashi para, Akandara Bauripara during 2021-22.
• Colour painting, replacement of false ceiling of Community center at Borodoba village.
• Training Cours: Garments Desgnining and dress making and GDA at Gopalpur Village.
• Construction of Community Centre, installation of 8 nos. solar street light and Drinking water facilities with submersible pump at Upper Fuljhor Adibashipara.
• Providing musical instrument and dress to village dance team.
Sales Counter : Samity runs a Sales counter where products of Ramakrishna Mission- books, photo, lockets, cassettes, incense sticks, honey etc. are sold.
Library: Samity runs a Free Library where various books on Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sri Ma Sarada and Swami Vivekananda and Vedanta literature are kept. 3 periodicals are also kept in the Library.
COVID-19 Relief Services: Swami Vivekananda Vani Prachar Samity conducted relief services in and around of Durgapur Sub-division among the poor and needy to meet their daily needs for sustenance.
Food packets were distributed in rural as well as slum area. Each food packet contained Rice, Dal, Potato, Soya beans, Biscuits, other food items and soap. Total 8,027 families were covered.
Samity distributed Rice- 13,272 kg, Soyabean- 1,184 kg, Musur Dal- 1,408 kg, Chira- 401 kg, Jaggery- 105 kg, Mustard oil- 150 kg, Potato- 9,377 kg, Puffed rice- 500 kg, Biscuits- 8,053 pkts. , Soap – 5,626 pcs, Atta – 2800 Kg, Salt – 150 Kg, Onion – 61 Kg, Chhatu – 50 Kg, Haldi – 25 Kg, Milk Powder – 20 Kg.
Cyclone Yaas Relief Efforts : Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Yaas was a relatively strong and very damaging tropical cyclone that made landfall in Odisha and brought significant impacts to West Bengal during late May 2021.Cyclone Yaas wrecked deadly havoc, lashing coastal areas with ferocious wind and rain. Food (dry ration and food kits) were distributed at Sitarampur village in North 24 paragana district through Vivekananda Seba Pratisthan on 13th June 2021. Total 300 families were covered in this relief effort. 1500 Kg Rice, 300 Kg Musur dal, 600 Kg Potato, 150 Kg Soyabean, 500 Packets of biscuits, 450 Kg Puffed Rice and were distributed.
Blanket distribution: Near about 505 nos. of blankets were distributed among peoples of different rural and slum areas in and around Durgapur during last winter season.

Medical Camp in Villages
• Mobile Health Service :- Mobile Medical Camp Started its Journey from September 2007 • Total No. of Patients served From September 2007 – March 2022 – 1, 04,058 Nos. • Total No. of Patients served during April 2021 – March 2022 at Medical Camp – 6470 Nos. • Areas covered: Mohantobagan , Dhoa Danga, Dasir Bandh, Baganpara, Kajora Leprosy Colony, Mana Basti, Coal Depot, Naya Bazar Village.
Following the government guidelines while conducting the camps:-
1. Patient’s waiting queue maintaining social distance 2. Thermal Screening to every patient 3. Sanitizing every patient’s hands 4. Use of hand gloves, Musk, Disposable head cap, apron by every staff including doctor 5. Registration from distance 6. Providing medicine maintaining social distance
